When travelling within Canada there are really only two airlines Air Canada and WestJet.
Non-connecting flights are very important to me. I don't like to take any longer than I need to get to on vacation, and with kids do you really need another couple of hours to keep them entertained??
So unless I can't get a direct flight with WestJet would be the only reason I would fly Air Canada. Yes all airlines have their issues, extra fees, and reward programs, it is actually the television for every seat and the complimentary snacks on all flights over 1 hr that is the real reason I choose them.
Another tool I find really helpful, since the price of airfare changes faster than a normal person changes their underwear is http://www.kayak.com/ When you create an account you can get daily or weekly emails letting you know what the price is on all the airlines and how that price is changing. I much rather read one email a day than make dummy books with different airlines, just to find out their price hasn't changed. Then when the price actually does change you know, making it a win-win situation.
